Summer Intern & Educator

o Temporary positions available at locations across Southwestern Ontario (London, Sarnia, Huron County, Dorchester)
o Start Date: May 21, 2024 – August 30, 2024. Duration and start date may differ based on centre needs
o Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Position Summary
As a Summer Educator, you will learn alongside a team of highly skilled and passionate Educators providing care and education to children between the ages of 0-12. In this role, you will support staffing in multiple classrooms, while also supporting the needs of the centre, children, and families. As a Summer Educator, you will be provided with a mentor who will help you develop key competencies within the field of early learning. You will participate in professional learning at a centre and organizational level, and engage in conversations around our pedagogical practices.
Responsibilities
o Develop positive relationships with children, families, and educators
o Prioritize the safety of children by maintaining constant supervision and following ratio protocols
o Observe and implement an emergent curriculum by fostering and nurturing child-led learning experiences that support the safety, health, and holistic well-being of children
o Seek to understand children’s diverse needs and abilities and provide an inclusive program within a community based practice
o Respond to all personal care needs of children throughout the day (e.g. diapering, toileting, meal gatherings, rest time, transition times, etc.)
o Perform a range of administrative functions, such as documenting children’s attendance, maintaining daily chart, and medication logs, and accident reports as skills are developed
o Comprehend and adhere to the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), health and safety guidelines, the OHSA, and London Bridge policies and procedures
o Attend professional learning and engage in reflective conversations alongside colleagues to create an inclusive and nurturing environment for all children
Qualifications
o Currently enrolled or recent graduate from the Early Childhood Education program or other post-secondary programs
o Experience working with children, including those with diverse needs, is considered an asset
o Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing environments
o Ability to take initiative while demonstrating a strong image of children, colleagues and families
o Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
o Ability to work with diverse communities with respect, sensitively, creatively, innovation, and cultural understanding
o Vulnerable Sectors Check within the last 6 months
o Standard First Aid and CPR Level C (WSIB approved) o Immunizations Records (Tetanus Toxoid and Rubella)
