I chose to work at London Bridge because I am deeply committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for children. As a person of color, I understand the significance of representation in education. I believe that every child deserves to feel a sense of belonging without the pressure to conform to mainstream culture. By creating an environment where children can be their authentic selves and feel safe in doing so, I am dedicated to making a positive impact on their lives. Joining London Bridge allows me to fulfill this mission and contribute to the growth and well-being of the children we care for. - Min Jeong Kim, Pedagogical Leader and Centre Director at London Bridge

Who Are We?

As the children work with various materials over extended periods, they form strong relationships with them. They learn and appreciate that the materials around us come from the natural world and have their own life. It gives me hope that children who grow up with these experiences will grow into responsible adults who understand that the gifts of the earth are meant to be shared by many species. We humans can only thrive if we flourish together with the more-than-human world. - Gabriella Solti, Artist in Residence at London Bridge

"I am unsure if I chose London Bridge or London Bridge chose me! What makes this place unique is that it recognizes the valuable and complex role of early childhood educators. London Bridge attempts to avoid focusing on the stereotypical view of educators and instead encourages more deep reflective practice and intellectual engagement. I admire the meaningful and constant professional learning sessions that develop educators' confidence and open up untouched and forbidden areas for courageous discussions in a pedagogical context. London Bridge recognized my identity and who I am. As a non-white Muslim woman, London Bridge empowered me to show the actual “me” within my practice. Finally, London Bridge respects children and sees them as capable and responsible individuals in society who can connect themselves with others (human and non-human), which challenges the socially constructed vision of innocent and less developed individuals." - Nagham Elsayed, Preschool Educator at London Bridge

Professional Learning Program.

At London Bridge, we believe that growing children deserve growing adults. We also know that many of us were raised by, and did most of our learning within a public education system that did not aptly prepare us to be critical and creative thinkers. While there are some exceptions, many of us were taught to obey the rules without asking questions and check appropriate boxes. We learned only to put our hand up if we knew the one right answer and to wait for permission from authority figures to act. We were told to collaborate but lacked meaningful encounters that enabled us to learn how, as most of our work was to be done while quietly sitting at a desk.

As an organization, we must deeply consider the role of education in raising humans to be collaborative, empathetic, compassionate, socially and environmentally responsible citizens who recognize their subjectivity and embody a life-long love of learning.

Our Professional Learning Program focuses on shifting and expanding our adult understanding of what Early Childhood Education COULD look like in the context of today’s world.

All London Bridge Employees have access to ongoing and consistent Professional Learning that nurtures creative and critical thinking skills, encourages playful and thoughtful experimentation with curriculum-making, and curates experiences that support thoughtful discourse with one another as colleagues.

We strive to create adult learning opportunities that nurture the kinds of skills we hope to foster in children and together create a more resilient community of learners.
